Hallmark San Mateo Asphalt Paving was founded in 2018 by a small crew of paving professionals who had spent years watching Peninsula property owners get burned by contractors who did not know the area - people who did not understand Bay Area clay soils, did not plan around the wet season, and cut corners on base preparation because it is the part you never see.
San Mateo is our home base. We work the neighborhoods from the hillside streets on the west side - where sloped lots and clay-heavy soil require careful drainage planning - to the lower-elevation properties near the bay, where the ground can shift after a wet winter. A lot of the homes in this city were built in the 1940s and 1950s, and the driveways and flatwork from that era have had decades to settle. We know what that looks like and we know how to fix it.
We are not a large regional operation. Every job we take is one we can stand behind, so we have kept the business sized to match what we can do well. Our customers call us back because the work holds up - and because we show up when we say we will.
Base preparation and surface cleaning are the parts of a paving job that most customers never see - and the parts that determine how long the finished surface lasts. We do not skip or rush them.

We hold an active California contractor license issued by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB), covering asphalt paving, sealcoating, and flatwork. You can verify any contractor license number at cslb.ca.gov before signing anything.
Every project we take carries full general liability coverage and workers compensation insurance. If something goes wrong on your property, you are not left holding the bill. Ask for certificates before work begins - a legitimate contractor provides them without hesitation.
Since 2018, we have completed paving, sealcoating, striping, and repair projects across San Mateo County. Our work spans all 16 service categories, from residential driveways to commercial parking lots and drainage systems.
